Abstract
Abstract This research develops a "Visual Letters Laboratory" as an artistic mediation experience aimed at transforming the traditional relationships between public schools and the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) in Chile. It arises from the issue that the Museum has traditionally mediated its collection using universal methodologies, which do not take into account the creativity or cultural uniqueness of school groups. In response to this, the objective is to explore the dialogue between public schools and the MNBA through a "Visual Letters Laboratory" that benefits artistic mediation practices for students in the commune of Cartagena. The laboratory consists of a participatory process in which students produce "visual letters", sent to the MNBA as a means of generating reflective artistic processes focused on landscape, identity, and territory. It also allows the Museum to make its collection available to public educational institutions, contributing to an understanding of its collection as a dynamic, participatory, and de-hierarchized archive. This approach fosters the link and activates communicative processes between the students and the museum.
